Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the PureCheck app. Please read them — in particular the sections on medical advice, data accuracy, and liability.

This agreement
By downloading, purchasing, or using PureCheck, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use PureCheck on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live, to use PureCheck.
What PureCheck is
PureCheck reads publicly available information about packaged foods and public water systems and presents it as a single, consistent score with an explanation of the factors behind it. It helps you compare products and understand labels.
Not medical advice
PureCheck is an informational tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, nutritional, or health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Scores describe the data available about a product, not its suitability for you. Always consult a qualified professional about your diet, allergies, medication, or health conditions, and never disregard professional advice because of something you read in the app.
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, read the physical product label. Ingredient data from public databases can be incomplete or out of date, and PureCheck must not be relied on to determine whether a product is safe for you to consume.
Accounts
Some features require an account, which you can create with Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Purchases and renewals
PureCheck is a paid app. Prices, billing periods, and any trial terms are shown in the Apple App Store or Google Play before you buy, and those stores process the transaction, not us.
- Purchases and any subscriptions are billed by, and managed through, your app store account.
- Where a purchase renews automatically, it continues until you cancel it in your store account’s subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
- Refunds are handled under the policy of the store you purchased from. We can help you with a request, but we cannot issue a store refund directly.
- Prices may change. We will give notice before a change affects a renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
[Confirm your price points, trial length, and billing periods before launch.]
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, bulk-download, or resell the scores, data, or content in the app.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the scoring method, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
- Use PureCheck to make claims about a product to the public that the app does not support.
- Use the app in any way that breaks applicable law.
Data accuracy
Product and water information comes from public sources including Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and EPA SDWIS. These sources are maintained by third parties and may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Scores reflect the data available at the time of the check and may change as sources are updated.
Water reports describe a public water system, based on the utility’s filings. They cannot measure the water inside an individual building, where plumbing — lead service lines in particular — can change what comes out of the tap.
The same product always receives the same score everywhere in the app. That consistency is a commitment about our own presentation; it is not a warranty about the underlying source data.
Intellectual property
The app, its scoring method, design, and the PureCheck name and logo belong to PureCheck. Your purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app. Third-party data remains subject to its own licence — Open Food Facts data, for example, is published under the Open Database Licence.
Termination
You can stop using PureCheck at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or end access if you materially break these terms, or if we must do so for legal or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including liability, intellectual property, and governing law — continue to apply.
Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any score is accurate or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and you may have statutory consumer rights that these terms do not affect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. [Confirm the governing law, venue, and whether you want an arbitration or class-action-waiver clause — those require careful drafting and vary by jurisdiction.]
